Need a Drink?
The San Antonio Cocktail Conference will be held January 14-17th, 2016 in downtown San Antonio, but if you need a drink sooner than that don’t worry, they’ve got you covered.
The San Antonio Cocktail Conference (SACC) is a Houston Street Charities event, donating 100% of all profits to benefit children. The 2015 recipients of the conference were The Children’s Shelter, ChildSafe, HeartGift, and Transplants for Children. SACC is a 4 day event featuring 75 Spirit Brands, 110 Bartenders, and 168 Cocktails.
I was invited to attend the unveiling of the 2016 signature cocktail at the Say Si art space. It was a fun event in a beautiful gallery, with live music and most importantly, great drinks! Best de Agave is this year’s signature cocktail, and you will be able to try it mixed up by professional bartenders at the conference. If you can’t wait till then, I’ve got a sneak-peak at the recipe:
Beso de Agave
1 oz. Milagro Reposado
1 oz Montelobos
1 1/2 oz. Pineapple Juice
3/4 oz. Fresh Lime
Bar spoon Agave Nectar
Mint Sprig for Garnish
Combine Milagro, Montelobos, pineapple juice, lime juice, and agave nectar in a shaker wiry ice. Shake. Strain into an ice-filled Collins glass and add ginger beer. Top with an Ancho Reyes float. Garnish with a mint sprig.
January is a long time to wait for a good drink. A Walk Through Mexico is the latest SACC event that is quickly approaching. On September 26 from 6:30-9:00pm, at 1119 S. St. Mary’s, Mexican Street Food and Cocktails will be featured. Participants include The Monterey, Toro Taco Bar, El Mirador, Hot Joy, Los Barrios, Mixtli. This is a ticketed event ($68 each) but again, all proceeds benefit children’s charities. Purchase tickets at www.saccevents.org.
Tickets go on sale for the SACC on November 15th at www.sacocktailconference.com. If you visit the site and sign up under the “updates” listing under the “schedule” tab, you will be notified of “sneak peak” news, including opportunities to purchase advance tickets.
